Here is a glorious polished specimen of sugilite, the queen of all the purple minerals. It is mixed with Manganese among other minerals. Named after Japanese petrologist Dr. Kenichi Sugi, whose name is pronounced with a hard "g" (as in "geese"), sugilite is rare and highly sought after for it's beauty and metaphysical properties. The rough shape of this smooth specimen is nice to hold in the hand.
