This chalky deep royal purple specimen of Purpurite is in the raw form. It's so chalky it leaves purple dust on your fingers. Purpurite forms by leaching of Lithium out of its site leaving a vacancy and by oxidation of divalent Manganese. It's a Manganese Phosphate with Iron. When the light hits some of the surfaces it shows some chatoyance. Interesting and beautiful mineral.
