Mammoth Molar Tooth Polished Slice

Here's a gorgeous slice of a mammoth molar tooth fossil that has been sliced and polished. They fluoresce and phosphoresce! I find the graphic beauty of them so interesting. And how cool to have a piece of iconic Ice Age history from the one of the coolest animals to roam. The make excellent gifts.

Mammoths (Mammothus columbi) were a type of Ice Age (Pleistocene Epoch) elephant. They are sometimes called wooly mammoths, because preserved specimens with long hair have been found in permafrost in Siberia. Mammoths once lived across much of North America and northern Asia.
