The combination of the ocean blue kyanite with black mica is so beautiful. The wand-like shape is great in the hand. The kyanite has beautiful sheen and the biotite mica that is interspersed and has great sparkle. The end is polished to show off that lovely kyanite core. It has nice weight to it. Lovely piece.
Kyanite is a polymorph with two other minerals, andalusite and sillimanite. It's an aluminosilicate mineral, which gives it the blue color, and is found found in aluminium-rich metamorphic pegmatites and/or sedimentary rock. Kyanite in metamorphic rocks generally indicates pressures higher than four kilobars. It is commonly found in quartz.
